Krasnostop Karpí is a new red technical grape variety created by the selection of the Ya.I. Potapenko Federal Scientific Research and Production Enterprise for Grape Breeding and Plant Protection (FSRI VIV) through the cross-breeding of the varieties Krasnostop Zolotovsky and the hybrid Augusta × Amursky. The variety is characterized by early-mid or medium ripening period with a production period duration of about 128-140 days. In southern regions, the harvest is collected from the end of August to mid-September. Bushes are medium-sized with high growth force, and flowers are bisexual, which contributes to good fruiting. Bunches are conical, of medium density, weighing from 210 to 350 grams, berries are round, dark blue or almost black in color with a thick waxy bloom, weighing about 1.9-2.1 grams. Skin is of medium thickness, pulp is juicy, with a harmonious taste and a thin muscat nuance. The variety is distinguished by high juice sugar content of berries — from 23 to 28%, with titratable acidity of 6.5-8 g/l, which ensures a rich and full taste of the wine material. Wines from Krasnostop Karpí have a dark ruby color and a pronounced aroma with notes of black currant, cherry, as well as muscat and chocolate nuances, which give them a pleasant and long aftertaste. The tasting evaluation of dry wine material reaches 8.6 points, indicating the high quality of the obtained product. Krasnostop Karpí has high winter hardiness and frost resistance up to -25°C, which makes it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions. The variety is resistant to main fungal diseases, including downy mildew, powdery mildew, and gray mold, which reduces the need for intensive plant protection. Thanks to high yield and complex resistance to diseases, this variety is recommended for winemaking, as well as for cultivation on vigorous rootstocks in non-sheltered culture.
