NOVOUKRAINSKIY RANNIY is a table grape variety with a very early maturity period, bred in 1969 at the All-Union All-Union Research Institute of Viticulture and Vinification 'Magarach' by crossing the Jura uzum and Zhemchug Saba varieties. The vegetative period is 95–100 days, allowing for harvest at the earliest possible times. Bushes are weakly vigorous, with medium-sized, rounded, and five-lobed leaves. Bunches are conical, of medium density, often loose and lobed, weighing from 200 to 280 grams. Berries are pink, round or flattened, with a waxy bloom, weighing 2.5–3 grams, with a thick and elastic skin, ensuring good transportability.
The flesh of the berries is meaty-juicy, with a harmonious and delicate taste with a pronounced muscat aroma. The sugar content of the juice reaches 16–18 g/cm3 with acidity of 4–5 g/dm3, giving the berries a pleasant combination of sweetness and acidity. Berries contain one or two seeds, which separate easily from the flesh. The yield of the variety is 13–14 tons per hectare, and the percentage of fruiting shoots reaches 74%. The variety is capable of forming fruiting shoots from replacement buds and old wood.
NOVOUKRAINSKIY RANNIY has medium frost resistance and resistance to mildew, is rarely affected by oidium and grey rot, however, it is not resistant to phylloxera. It is damaged by the grape leafroller. Thanks to the tough skin, berries withstand transportation well, making the variety in demand for fresh consumption. The taste score of fresh grapes ranges from 8.2–9.1 points, confirming the high quality and appeal of the variety for fans of early table grapes.
