Julia apple tree is a summer variety of Czech breeding, bred in 1994 by crossing the Quint and Discovery varieties. This variety is characterized by high frost resistance and immunity to diseases such as scab and powdery mildew, ensuring reliability and stability of the harvest. The tree has a rounded crown with moderately strong growth in the first few years, which then slows down, and the branches become drooping under the weight of the fruits. Leaves are powerful and resistant to diseases. Yield is annual but may fluctuate, reaching 34-42 kg per tree at 7-8 years of age. To prevent alternate bearing, thinning of buds is recommended.
Julia apple tree fruits are of medium size, weighing from 120 to 160 grams, and are round-flattened in shape. The skin is of medium thickness, smooth and shiny, light green in color with an intense pink-red blush, covered with a waxy bloom. The flesh is dense but tender, finely grained, creamy white in color with a greenish tint, juicy and fragrant. Apples have a sour-sweet taste and withstand transportation well. When overripe, fruits tend to fall off, and storage in the refrigerator is possible for 2-3 weeks.
Harvest collection is extended in time and is usually carried out in two stages in the third decade of July, which is convenient for consuming fruits fresh. The Julia apple tree is grafted onto rootstock 54-118 and has recommended pollinators such as Williams Pride, Quinti, Melba, Piroso, Papero, Brizky, Early Geneva, and Slava Peremozhcu. Early flowering facilitates successful pollination and harvest formation.
