Caucasian Early is a table grape variety with an early-mid ripening period, developed in 1952 at the North Caucasian Scientific Research Institute of Viticulture. This variety is characterized by a semi-dwarf vine with good maturity (about 85%) and hermaphroditic flowering type. The leaves are medium-sized, rounded, deeply lobed, and five-lobed. The clusters are large or medium-sized, oval-shaped, and the berries are large, round, greenish-white with a golden hue and a characteristic brown tan. The berry flesh is crisp and juicy, imparting an attractive taste and texture. The sugar content of the berries ranges from 15.8% to 18.3%, while acidity varies between 6.5-8.5 g/l, ensuring a harmonious flavor balance. The variety yields very high and stable harvests, reaching 15–28 tons per hectare. Caucasian Early tolerates drought well and is tolerant to phylloxera, but is not resistant to fungal diseases. The transportability of the berries is low, which should be considered during transportation and storage. The variety is suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions and is recommended to be trained as a medium-power spur-pruned fan-trained form with moderate load. Due to its characteristics and high yield, Caucasian Early is an excellent choice for those seeking an early and quality table grape with good resistance to unfavorable conditions.
