Sweet Pod is an early variety of sugar snap peas that matures in 55-65 days from germination. Plants reach a height of 70 to 100 cm and have slightly curved, blunt pods of light green color, about 10 cm long, containing 5-7 smooth peas. Pod walls are thick and fleshy, giving them a sweet taste without tough tissues. Young pods with undeveloped seeds are consumed as food, which are a valuable dietary product rich in proteins, sugars, starch, vitamins C, B1, B2, B6, PP, and carotene.
In addition to the classic green variety, there is an original purple variant with bright purple pods and green peas. The purple color of the pods is due to a high content of anthocyanins - powerful antioxidants, beneficial for the body. Such pods are not only tasty but also serve as a decorative element for a home garden. The yield of the variety reaches up to 74 c/ha.
Sowing seeds is recommended in early spring, in April-May, on the sunny side of the plot at a depth of 4-6 cm. Harvest collection is possible from June to August. Peas are suitable for consumption fresh, as well as for canning and freezing, which allows to preserve their useful properties and taste for a long time.
