The vegetable pea variety ABA is an early-maturing shelling crop intended for canning and fresh consumption. The period from emergence to the beginning of technical maturity is 48-56 days, which is several days earlier than the standard Alpha variety. The plant is characterized by synchronous maturity and is suitable for mechanized harvesting. The pea stem is short, with plant height reaching up to 90 cm. Leaves are of medium size, dark green with a grayish tint and waxy coating; stipules are large with medium-density spotting. Flowers are creamy and large, while pods are weakly curved, long, medium width, with an acute tip and parchment layer. Lower pods attach at a height of 26-33 cm. Peas at technical maturity have a dark green color and are distinguished by good taste qualities. Seeds are wrinkled, medium size with green cotyledons; the mass of 1000 seeds is 220-230 g. Pods can reach a length of up to 10 cm and contain up to 9 seeds; the weight of one pod is about 0.2 g. Green pea yield varies from 51 to 94 centners per hectare, corresponding to 0.6 kg per square meter when harvesting green pods and up to 1.2 kg per square meter when harvesting pods. Maturation periods are medium-late, and harvest is conducted in June-July. Sowing is done in April at a depth of about 4 cm with a row spacing of 15x8 cm. The ABA variety is distinguished by high seed sugar content and is suitable for use in an immature state, making it an optimal choice for canning.
