Aquadet – a perennial plant of the legume family, known as one of the main nectar sources. Seeds are planted in early spring; they retain germination for up to eight years, making cultivation convenient for planning. The plant reaches 120 cm in height and forms 10–18 stems with inflorescences 15–20 cm long, adorned with large blue‑violet flowers.
Aquadet attracts bees due to the large amount of nectar and pollen. Flowering occurs twice during summer: the first begins at the end of May and lasts until the beginning of July (30–40 days), the second – from mid‑August to mid‑September, which is especially important for preparing bees for wintering. One hectare of the plant can yield 150–200 kg of honey.
The plant is characterized by frost resistance: during cold periods it withstands temperatures down to ‑25 °C. In addition, Aquadet serves as an excellent green manure and fodder crop, thanks to its high content of protein and nutrients.
