Goat's rue Kazbek

A reliable source of protein in the fodder crop rotation

Eastern galega (goat's rue) variety "Kazbek" is a solution for farms focused on long-term pasture management and building a solid fodder base. Developed by breeders at the Samara Federal Research Center of the RAS under the leadership of V. F. Kazarin, this variety shows high adaptability to temperate climate conditions.

Agronomic profile and productivity

"Kazbek" is a perennial herb with a life cycle that allows a single field to be used for 8–10 years. The plant height reaches 120–140 cm, ensuring excellent green mass yields of 40–50 t/ha. The main value of the variety lies in its quality indicators: protein content in the green mass reaches 20–22%, making it one of the strongest competitors to traditional alfalfa crops.

Practical application scenarios

• Long-term pasture management: Due to its rapid regrowth in early spring, "Kazbek" allows for early grazing when other grasses are still in the active growth phase.
• High-protein fodder production: The variety is perfect for haylage and silage. A high protein percentage significantly reduces expenditures on purchased protein additives during the winter period.
• Soil structure improvement: As a legume crop, "Kazbek" actively fixes nitrogen, leaving behind a fertile layer for subsequent grain crops in the rotation.

Choosing this variety is efficient for livestock enterprises striving for autonomy in providing their livestock with high-energy feed.
