Goat's rue YALGINSKIY

Agrotechnical Potential of the Yalginsky Variety

Yalginsky is a selection achievement developed by the Federal Agrarian Scientific Center of the North-East, representing the Eastern Galega (Goat's Rue) species. The engineering focus of this variety lies in balancing high biomass yields with intense regrowth dynamics post-harvesting.

Morphology and Yield Characteristics

The plant height reaches 120–140 cm. This architecture ensures an optimal balance between leaf area and stem density, which is critical for producing high-quality hay, haylage, and silage. High leafiness directly correlates with increased protein content, making this variety an essential tool for intensive livestock production.

Biological Protection and Reliability

The selection process incorporated complex resistance mechanisms against pathogens and pests:

• Phytosanitary Resilience: The variety exhibits significant tolerance to root rots, which are the primary limiting factors for the longevity of perennial legumes.
• Immunity to Ascochyta: Genetic resistance to this fungal disease prevents leaf mass loss, even under high humidity conditions.
• Pest Control: The plant possesses innate defensive mechanisms against pea aphids, reducing the need for preventive insecticide treatments and lowering operational costs.

Economic Efficiency

The versatility of the Yalginsky variety allows for efficient management of harvesting schedules. As a melliferous plant, it also improves the efficiency of the agro-ecosystem by supporting local entomofauna. Choosing this Galega variety is an investment in a long-term stand with predictable yield and superior nutritional quality for livestock.
