Description YALGINSKIY
Yalginskiy Sainfoin – a perennial plant of the legume family, distinguished by high frost resistance and drought tolerance. The bush has an upright form reaching a height of 80 to 150 cm, with individual stems growing up to 1.5–2 m. Inside the plant, a powerful root system is developed with a rooting depth up to 80 cm, which ensures stability under adverse conditions and contributes to soil structure improvement.

The Sainfoin Yalginskiy variety was bred by mass selection from a sample obtained at the fodder research institute. Seeds are characterized by high purity (not less than 96 %) and germination above 80 %. They have a length of 2–4 cm, are weakly curved, and bean-shaped seeds are greenish-yellow and olive in color. Seed hardness ranges from 30 % to 40 %, ensuring good preservation during storage.

Yalginskiy Sainfoin has significant agronomic value: as a cover crop, it loosens the soil and enriches it with nitrogen, and also serves as a component of composts and "green" fertilizers. As a honey plant, it attracts bees, and during flowering from May to the end of June, it forms a loose upright raceme 15–25 cm long with blue-violet florets. The culture is used as fodder – green mass, hay, silage, and ensilage. The recommended seeding rate is from 20 g to 30 g per square meter.
