Goat's rue Vera

Goat's Rue 'Vera': A Dedicated Medicinal Variety

The 'Vera' variety represents a significant advancement in the cultivation of medicinal plants, specifically developed by the Federal Research Center for Bast Fiber Crops (FGBNU FNC LK) in collaboration with OOO Konopleks and expert breeders A.A. Smirnov and O.N. Zelenina. Unlike generic goat's rue populations, this variety is engineered for specific pharmacological applications.

Botanical and Morphological Profile

As a perennial herbaceous plant, 'Vera' is designed to meet the rigorous demands of pharmaceutical raw material production. Its key technical specifications include:

• Plant Height: Reaches between 60 and 150 cm, ensuring balanced vegetative biomass for efficient harvesting cycles.
• Growth Habit: A perennial structure that allows for stable, long-term field productivity.
• Primary Use: Strictly medicinal, focusing on the accumulation of specific bioactive compounds utilized in modern phytotherapy.

Market Significance and Utility

In the agricultural market, 'Vera' serves as a bridge between wild-harvested botanical material and standardized pharmaceutical production. By creating a stable, identifiable variety, the originators have provided growers and drug manufacturers with a consistent product. This is particularly vital for the production of hypoglycemic agents, where the quality and composition of plant raw materials must be consistent. 'Vera' offers a reliable alternative to traditional forage-grade goat's rue, enabling producers to optimize their fields for specialized medical supplies with predictable yields.
