Esparcet "Blysk" – an intensive type variety with high yield of green mass, hay, and seeds. During competitive trials over six years, it exceeded the standard Yuzhnoukrayinsky variety by 53.7 c/ha (27.8%) in green mass yield, and produced over 15 c/ha of hay and nearly 1.5 c/ha of seeds – approximately 13% above average. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and drought resistance (9 points), moderate resistance to root rot, which makes it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions.
"Blysk" belongs to mid-season, single-cut plants. Plant height is high, they are straight with weak branching. Leaves are long, wide, and elliptical, which promotes good photosynthesis. Flowers form cylindrical racemes: at the beginning of flowering the tip is slightly blunted, and after opening the pods are of medium size with short teeth. The variety ensures increased protein collection – 2.43 c/ha (39.6%) higher than the standard.
Seeds of the variety are suitable for sowing from mid-April to mid-May and can be grown both in open ground and under film. Due to resistance to pests and diseases, as well as adaptability to different soil types, "Blysk" is a reliable basis for grain and hay production in the central and southern parts of Ukraine. It can be successfully grown for three years in a row on one site, providing a stable yield and high product quality.
