Sainfoin SANDY 22

Consistent Yields Under Stressful Conditions

For farm operators, selecting the right fodder crop often involves balancing growth potential against susceptibility to disease. Developed by the Ufa Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, «Peschany 22» stands out as a robust solution. This sainfoin variety is engineered to thrive in unpredictable environments, making it a reliable asset for livestock operations that demand consistency over high-maintenance fragility.

Field Performance and Maintenance

When operating with «Peschany 22», the primary benefit is its operational resilience. The variety demonstrates superior resistance to fusarium, powdery mildew, and root rot—diseases that typically necessitate aggressive fungicide applications in less resistant cultivars. Coupled with above-average drought tolerance, it maintains consistent vegetative vigor, even when seasonal rainfall patterns are suboptimal.

• Productivity: Yields of 25–40 tons of green mass per hectare provide a predictable output for silage or hay production, reducing the need for constant input adjustments.
• Dual-Purpose Value: Beyond its primary use as high-quality forage, the variety acts as an effective honey plant, diversifying farm income streams during the flowering season.
• Management Efficiency: It is a low-stress crop that responds well to standard agronomic practices without requiring excessive chemical intervention, simplifying the seasonal field schedule.

For an owner, «Peschany 22» offers a balance of durability and yield. It is built to perform in the field while minimizing the operational headache of constant disease monitoring and crop failure risk. It is a straightforward, high-efficiency selection for those prioritizing long-term forage reliability.
