Dill variety Hairy Lion is a mid-late bushy variety that reaches marketable size 42-45 days after germination. Plants differ in a strongly foliate compact bush form with short internodes and slowed stem elongation. In the rosette, 18-20 large leaves form before the start of stem elongation, which ensures a lush green mass with a rich aroma. This variety is resistant to bolting and retains juiciness for a long time, which makes it universal for fresh consumption and preparations.
For maximum yield, multiple harvests of greens are recommended. During growth, 2-3 leaves are broken off from the plant each week, which extends the harvest period to 20-25 days. Such a long harvesting duration allows obtaining more high-quality and aromatic greens, since with plant age their aromaticity intensifies. Yield of green mass reaches 3-4 kg per square meter.
Sowing of seeds is done in open ground to a depth of 1-1.5 cm. To obtain greens throughout the season, seeds are sown several times with an interval of 10-15 days. Also, winter sowing is possible at the end of October – early November for an earlier harvest. Plants require regular watering, weeding, loosening, and fertilization, which contributes to their healthy growth and high productivity.
