NS 5051

Corn NS 5051 is a medium-late maturing simple hybrid developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Field Crop Research in Novi Sad. This hybrid is characterized by high yield and adaptability, confirmed by its inclusion in the state register for the North Caucasus region for silage use. Plants reach a height of 250 to 280 cm, with long and thick cylindrical ears forming at approximately 85 cm. Leaves are of medium width, and the ear stalk has a medium anthocyanin coloration. Grain is dent type, yellow, with a 1000-grain weight of about 400 g, indicating standard product quality. NS 5051 has a high yield potential — over 150 centners per hectare of dry matter, and under optimal production conditions, the yield of dried grain may reach 15 tons per hectare. The hybrid rapidly loses moisture during maturation, facilitating harvest and reducing loss risks. Recommended plant density varies by region: 50-55 thousand per hectare for forest-steppe, 45-50 thousand per hectare for central steppe, and 40-45 thousand per hectare for southern and dry steppe. When producing silage mass, plant density per hectare is recommended to be increased by 10-15% to achieve maximum productivity. One of the key advantages of corn NS 5051 is its high drought and lodging resistance, making this hybrid particularly valuable for cultivation under limited moisture conditions. Thanks to these qualities and stable yields, NS 5051 is suitable for various climatic zones and provides reliable results when grown for grain or silage.
