Locus

Locus DMS — a mid-season hybrid of sweet corn with a FAO index of 210, developed by MAIS. It is characterized by a short vegetation period of 104 to 109 days, allowing for stable and high yields in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polissia, Forest Steppe, and Steppe. The hybrid’s potential yield reaches 136 centners per hectare, while actual yields vary from 79 to 109 centners per hectare across different regions.

The hybrid exhibits high growth energy in early development stages and requires a minimum soil temperature for planting of 10–11°C. The grain is silken, with 14 to 16 rows per ear. During maturation, seeds rapidly lose moisture, and leaf mass is dry, facilitating harvest. Locus DMS demonstrates moderate cold tolerance, increased resistance to lodging, and high resistance to major corn diseases such as smut and southern rust, as well as pests, including corn borer.

This hybrid is distinguished by high drought and water deficit tolerance, making it a reliable choice for modern agrotechnologies. It adapts well to various agronomic practices used in cereal farming and is suitable for cultivation across the entire territory of Ukraine. Thanks to its characteristics, Locus DMS is an optimal solution for farmers aiming to achieve high-quality and stable sweet corn yields.
