Corn hybrid Basilic is a medium-early simple bicross hybrid intended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region. Plants reach medium height, have cylindrical ears of medium length with a large number of rows of kernels. The kernels are intermediate type, closer to chalky, with yellow-orange coloring of the upper part. The vegetation period is about 108 days, slightly less than the standard term, and the grain moisture at harvest is below average, facilitating storage and processing. The hybrid shows resistance to stalk rot and moderate resistance to gray leaf spot, but in field conditions it may be affected by bacterial ear rot and Fusarium ear rot, as well as damage from corn borer. A distinctive feature of the Basilic hybrid is its high yield, averaging 47.2 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 96 centners on some farms. The plant's leaves are of medium size and slightly curved, and the anthocyanic coloration of the silk is strongly expressed, which is a characteristic feature of this variety. The ear has a short or medium stalk, and the density of kernels and number of lateral branches of the tassel are at a medium level, ensuring good yield formation. In cooking, corn Basilic is valued for its juiciness and flavor, which can be enhanced by adding basil, imparting originality and aroma to dishes. This preparation method does not require precise proportions and allows for experimentation with flavor according to personal preference. Thanks to its agronomic characteristics and taste qualities, the Basilic hybrid is an excellent choice both for industrial cultivation and home use.
