Kochia Barhan

Selection Heritage and Landscape Potential

Kochia 'Barkhan' is a product of professional selection developed by the V.R. Williams All-Russian Research Institute of Forage. This cultivar is the result of long-term work aimed at adapting decorative crops to regional climate conditions. Unlike wild forms, 'Barkhan' demonstrates high growth uniformity, which is critical for professional landscape design.

Agrotechnical Features and Application

The plant is valued for its dense, regular bush shape resembling a cypress, which has earned it the reputation of a "summer cypress" in landscaping. The crop is undemanding regarding soil types but reveals its full decorative potential in sunny locations with adequate drainage.

• Architectural role: ideal for creating borders, hedges, and topiary compositions.
• Color dynamics: changes color from bright green in spring to bronze-red by autumn, extending the aesthetic appeal in the garden until the first frosts.
• Resilience: responds well to pruning, allowing the creation of figures of any geometric complexity.

The variety's reputation is built on its predictable performance in the ground: 'Barkhan' is not prone to lodging and maintains its architectural verticality throughout the entire growing season, making it a preferred choice for urban park zones and private gardens.
