Cochia is an ornamental evergreen plant, prized for its hardiness and unique shape. In our assortment, we offer the broom cochia, an annual fast-growing succulent reaching a height of 1–1.2 m, forming a spherical bush. The foliage is lacy, bright green in summer and gradually changes to purple-red with the onset of autumn, becoming more saturated as frost approaches.
The plant differs in drought resistance and cold hardiness, prefers sunny places but can grow in partial shade; in full shade, its decorative value decreases. Cochia prefers loose, nutritious soils with a neutral reaction. For maximum decorative effect, the plant is best grown separately, as in dense planting the bushes shrink and lose their appeal.
Cochia can be used in various landscape designs: single plantings in flower beds, group compositions on lawns, mixed borders, front gardens near the house, decorating a rockery or alpine hill. It is also excellent for creating a border along paths thanks to its resilience and bright coloring throughout the seasons.
