Kochia – an annual plant of the amaranth family that grows rapidly to a height of 60–80 cm and forms dense bushes. It is perfectly suited for open ground due to its drought and heat resistance; however, it prefers light, loose, well-draining soils with a neutral or weakly alkaline reaction.
Kochia leaves are narrow, elongated, and initially bright green. In autumn, they change color to purple-red, creating striking accents in landscape design. The plant is often used to create living hedges, borders, and decorative accents in flower beds thanks to its bright coloring and compact shape.
Care for Kochia is simple: regular watering, soil loosening, and fertilization promote rapid growth (up to 10 cm per week) and maintain decorativeness from spring to late autumn. Diseases and pests are rare with proper care. Kochia can also serve as an element of a living hedge, thanks to its branched structure and the ability to form a bush according to the owner's wishes.
