Carrot VERESNEVA.

Built for Long-Term Storage

The 'Veresneva' carrot variety, developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of NAAS, is designed for producers prioritizing winter supply and shelf life. When the business model relies on selling produce from storage until late spring, this variety becomes a staple in the rotation.

Field Performance and Handling

With a maturity cycle of 90–100 days, 'Veresneva' offers flexibility in scheduling harvest operations to avoid peak moisture or temperature stress. As a typical Nantes-type carrot, it produces uniform, cylindrical roots that facilitate both mechanical harvesting and efficient sorting.

• Marketability: The root length of 19–27 cm and an average weight of 150–200 grams fit perfectly into standard retail packaging requirements.
• Post-harvest quality: The variety retains its deep orange pigment and crisp texture even after months in cold storage.
• Processing: The smooth, straight shape ensures minimal loss during automated post-harvest cleaning, washing, and polishing lines.

Field experience confirms that 'Veresneva' performs best in fertile, well-drained loamy soils. By focusing on uniform sizing and consistent internal quality, this variety helps growers reduce post-harvest waste and ensures a higher percentage of premium-grade output, which is essential for consistent supermarket supply chains.
