Carrot Chantenay

Reliability and Classics in the Chantenay Segment

The Chantenay carrot variety from the plant breeding company "Gavrish" is a top choice for those who prioritize reliability and the long-term storage potential of their harvest. Within the market, the brand has long earned a reputation as a "workhorse" that performs predictably across various soil types, including heavy loams where other varieties are prone to deformation.

Agronomic Specifications

• Vegetation period: 110–120 days, classifying this as a mid-season variety.
• Morphology: Conical root shape, with the classic Chantenay length of 12–15 cm.
• Marketable weight: Ranges from 120 to 250 grams, ensuring a high yield of high-quality produce.
• Color: Intense orange, indicating high carotene content.

The core value of this variety lies in the balance between a compact size and a firm, dense flesh structure. Short, broad roots are much easier to extract from the soil during mechanized harvesting, which minimizes the percentage of damage and bruising. For a farmer, this translates to reduced losses during processing and the ability to pack produce more efficiently in vegetable storage facilities.

Market Positioning

The "Gavrish" breeding program is traditionally focused on local climatic nuances, which is why "Chantenay" demonstrates excellent adaptability to the variable weather conditions of temperate latitudes. Unlike long-rooted varieties, this option is less demanding regarding the depth of the loose topsoil, making it a preferred choice for both start-up farms and professional growers focused on achieving stable results without excessive investment in specialized agricultural techniques.
