LONG PURPLE

The 'Long Purple' eggplant variety is a mid-early and early variety with elongated cylindrical fruits of dark purple color. The plant is compact, standing 50-60 cm tall, with a powerful root system and abundant foliage. Fruits reach a length of 18-25 cm and a weight of 200-300 g, featuring a thin skin, dense flesh without bitterness, and a small number of seeds. The taste qualities of the eggplants are excellent, making them ideal for home cooking, canning, and freezing, while maintaining their flavor and density after processing. The variety boasts high yields, reaching up to 8 kg per square meter under film cover and about 50 tons per hectare.

The 'Long Purple' variety is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses. The recommended planting density is no more than three plants per square meter, with a distance between rows of 40-50 cm and between plants of 40 cm. For planting, use holes 10-12 cm deep, watering them with 1-2 liters of water per hole. The plant requires regular watering, loosening, and fertilization with mineral and organic fertilizers, which promotes good development and high yields. Seeds undergo heat treatment and holding in a moist environment before sowing to improve germination, which occurs within 2-3 days.

The eggplant is sensitive to low temperatures and drafts but is plastic to agrotechnical practices and quickly recovers after unfavorable conditions. The variety is resistant to diseases and pests, however, it requires preventive treatment to protect against viral diseases and insects. Fruits withstand careful transportation and short-term storage in cool and dark places well, preserving their freshness and quality until use.
