Description

The Romosa carrot variety belongs to the Berlakum type and is characterized by a late ripening period, which is approximately 125-130 days. The root crops have a cylindrical or spindle shape with a blunt or slightly pointed tip, measuring from 18 to 24 cm in length and weighing from 95 to 250 g. Their surface and core are colored bright orange, and the flesh is juicy and very sweet, making this variety particularly attractive for fresh consumption and processing.

The Romosa variety is distinguished by its high yield, reaching an average of 386-474 centners per hectare, and high marketability of the root crops - from 81 to 97%. It is resistant to cracking and brittleness, which ensures convenience during harvesting and transportation. Thanks to its good storability, carrots of this variety can be stored for 7-8 months, allowing them to be used during the winter period both for fresh consumption and for canning.

When growing the Romosa variety, it is recommended to pay special attention to fertilizers, preferring potassium top-dressing and low doses of superphosphate (5-10 g per 1 m²) at planting. Application of fresh manure under this variety of carrots is not recommended. The high content of dry matter (9.7-11.3%), total sugar (5.8-8.1%) and carotene (up to 18.3 mg per 100 g of raw substance) makes this variety not only tasty but also healthy.
