Bluegrass YVETTE

Technical Excellence of Yvette Kentucky Bluegrass by DLF

In the professional management of sports turf and premium landscapes, the key differentiator is not merely aesthetic, but the biological resilience of the sod. Yvette, a specialty cultivar developed by Dlf Seeds A/S in Denmark, is engineered as a robust tool for surfaces subject to intense traffic.

Growth Architecture and Stress Tolerance

The defining characteristic of Yvette is its superior tiller density. Unlike standard varieties, this Kentucky bluegrass establishes a vigorous rhizomatous root system that effectively anchors the soil substrate. This is critical for sports applications, where shear resistance and rapid recovery from mechanical stress are paramount. DLF’s genetic selection has prioritized high resistance to powdery mildew, significantly reducing the need for chemical fungicides and ensuring a pristine appearance even under high-humidity conditions.

Operational Guidelines

• Versatility: The variety is equally effective for high-intensity sports fields and luxury landscaping.
• Seeding Rate: The recommended application rate is 20-25 g/m². This density ensures an optimal balance between establishment speed and long-term turf tightness without inducing nutrient competition.
• Biological Defense: A strong natural defense against powdery mildew simplifies turf maintenance in regions with significant temperature fluctuations.

Yvette represents a commitment to durability. The dense network of rhizomes creates an “armored” turf effect, capable of self-repairing quickly following heavy usage and mechanical impact.
