Strawberry Florida Fortuna

A Reliable Strawberry Choice: Why Florida Fortuna Stands Out

In the competitive berry market, Florida Fortuna from Florida Foundation Seed Producers has carved out a niche as a "reliable early variety." Unlike many high-maintenance novelties, this variety demonstrates remarkable resistance to climate fluctuations, making it a favorite for both southern and temperate latitudes.

Key Advantages

• Fruit Quality and Durability: With berry weights of 40–50 grams, this is a commercial standard highly valued in retail. The fruit is notably dense, minimizing transport damage and maintaining its marketable appearance even days after harvest.
• Disease Resistance: The variety exhibits strong natural resistance to powdery mildew and phytophthora. This significantly reduces the need for heavy fungicide use, aligning with modern, eco-friendly farming practices.
• Growth Flexibility: It performs equally well in open fields and protected greenhouse environments, allowing farmers to adapt their harvest schedules based on market demand.

Who is this variety for?

Florida Fortuna is designed for professionals focused on the fresh fruit market. Its early maturation period (35–40 days) allows growers to hit the "first berry" price peak. With frost resistance down to -25°C, it is well-suited for a variety of climates, though winter protection is still advised in snowless regions. As a non-everbearing variety, the plant concentrates its energy into a single, high-yield, high-quality harvest, simplifying crop management and fertilization scheduling.

If you are looking for the perfect balance between large fruit size and predictable cultivation, Florida Fortuna is a solid addition to any commercial berry operation.
