Barley Organa

Danish breeding for Ukrainian fields

The "Organa" barley variety is the result of years of development by the Danish company Nordic Seed A/S. This population variety embodies the Scandinavian approach to plant breeding, where the priority is adaptability to changing climatic conditions and yield stability. Unlike highly specialized hybrids, "Organa" retains genetic plasticity, making it a reliable tool for farmers operating across various regions of Ukraine.

The path to registration

The official status of the variety in Ukraine was established in 2026. Inclusion in the State Register of Plant Varieties suitable for dissemination marked the culmination of multi-year trials that confirmed the crop's compliance with high quality standards. Nordic Seed A/S, as the owner of the variety, focused on creating a product capable of effectively utilizing the potential of Ukrainian soils while minimizing risks associated with weather anomalies.

Role in crop rotation

As a population variety, "Organa" occupies a niche of high-yielding cereal crops focused on predictable results. The breeding method used to develop this barley has balanced tillering and lodging resistance. For agricultural producers, this means the ability to plan yields with less dependence on the intensity of chemical protection, which is particularly relevant in the context of efforts to optimize costs per hectare.
