Petrus

Petrus is an autumn-sown, medium-maturing, six-row barley with medium-high grain quality and low crude protein content. The variety is characterized by high grain yield, reaching up to 80 centners per hectare, making it attractive for cultivation under various agroclimatic conditions. Optimal sowing dates fall within the range from September 20 to October 25, with seeding rates varying depending on conditions: 250–300 germinating seeds per square meter under favorable conditions, and 290–400 under unfavorable conditions. Petrus is recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe, Polissia, and Steppe regions. The variety exhibits high resistance to major diseases and stress factors. It possesses high winter hardiness and drought tolerance, ensuring stable growth and preservation of crops under adverse climatic conditions. Resistance to lodging is medium-high, stem breakage resistance is medium, and head breakage resistance is high. Among diseases, the variety shows high resistance to yellow mosaic virus, leaf spot, and rhiinospory, medium resistance to root rot, and medium-high resistance to powdery mildew and dwarf rust. Petrus is a product of German breeding, ensuring high seed quality and compliance with modern agronomic requirements.
