Barley Pejas

Czech breeding performance in your fields

When working with the spring barley "Peyas" from Oseva Eximpo Praha S.R.O., you immediately notice its predictability. This variety doesn't require complex agronomic acrobatics to deliver a decent yield. Czech breeding here manifests itself in pure endurance: the crop feels confident in different soil types and is quite forgiving of minor errors in planting dates. For an agronomist who values peace of mind during the growing season, this barley is a reliable workhorse.

Operational experience and field performance

• Sowing: The variety shows excellent field germination. Even under unstable spring moisture conditions, the seeds sprout uniformly, creating a dense canopy. This is crucial for natural weed suppression, reducing the need for heavy herbicide applications.
• Resilience: "Peyas" withstands standard cereal diseases quite well. With a basic fungicide program, the crop stays healthy until harvest. The stalks are sturdy, which minimizes the risk of lodging during strong winds or heavy rain showers.
• Harvesting: Combining "Peyas" is comfortable; the grain matures evenly and does not shatter, even if the harvest window is delayed by bad weather. Moisture levels at harvest usually allow for savings on drying, provided the field operations are timely.

In terms of profitability, this variety is attractive because of its stable grain yield. It requires no specialized harvesting equipment or unique storage conditions, meaning logistics and post-harvest handling remain standard. This is an ideal choice for producers who are looking for proven European quality without the need for unnecessary experimentation.
