Barley Luran

Field Performance of Luran Winter Barley

Working with Czech-bred winter barley from Selgen requires a professional approach, but the return on investment justifies the effort. Luran is a high-performing variety that rewards the farmer for precise nitrogen management and timing. In the field, it stands out for its structural integrity—even under heavy rainfall before harvest, lodging is minimal, which significantly simplifies the harvesting process for the operator.

Operational Insights and Maintenance

From an agronomical perspective, Luran shows excellent overwintering capabilities. During the tillering phase, it creates a dense stand that effectively suppresses weeds, reducing the need for late-stage chemical intervention. It is highly responsive to standard fungicide programs, showing great resilience against common leaf diseases when managed according to the recommended growth schedule.

• High yield potential under intensive cultivation regimes.
• Uniform ripening, allowing for efficient use of harvesting machinery.
• Heavy grain quality that meets market demands with ease.

The variety is straightforward to handle with standard combine settings; it threshes cleanly without requiring complex modifications. For those managing Selgen genetics, Luran is a reliable choice that minimizes risk during the growing cycle. It is a workhorse variety that maintains consistency, allowing for accurate budget and harvest planning across large acreages.
