RED ANKE

Apple 'Red Anke' is a high-yielding late-winter ripening variety, developed in the USA as a clone of the popular 'Red Delicious' variety. The trees are of medium height with round, compact crowns, reaching about 3-4 meters in height. The variety is well adapted for growing on dwarf and semi-dwarf rootstocks, showing high resistance to powdery mildew, although it has low resistance to scab. Fruiting begins 3-4 years after planting, and the first flowering can occur as early as the second year. 'Red Anke' apples are large, uniform, with dense and aromatic flesh of medium juiciness. The skin is firm, shiny, dark red with a sheen. The flesh has a sweet taste with a slight acidic note and a rich aroma reminiscent of wild berries. Full flavor is achieved after 3-4 weeks of storage, making the apples ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for making juice and jam. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to choose sunny areas with well-drained and fertile soil. The tree has moderate frost resistance and is suitable for regions with a temperate climate. The flowering of 'Red Anke' is beautiful: large flowers with richly raspberry-colored buds, which acquire a pinkish hue when opening. The crown becomes slightly spreading over time, and the branches are directed at a 90-degree angle, which promotes good ventilation and lighting.
