This summer variety was obtained at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Genetics and Selection of Fruit Plants named after I. V. Michurin by S. P. Yakovlev through crossing a donor of high winter hardiness with a source of comprehensive disease resistance from the variety Nежность with the Australian variety Triumph Pakgama. It is gaining wider popularity due to its complex of valuable agro-biological traits. It has been officially approved for the Central Chernozem region since 2002.
The tree is small, fast-growing, with a slightly drooping, moderately dense crown. It exhibits high bud dormancy breaking ability and strong shoot-forming capacity. The bark on the trunk and scaffold branches is smooth and gray. Branches emerge almost at a right angle. The predominant type of fruit formation is ring-shaped and spear-shaped.
Shoots are thick, curved, light-brown, with many small bumps. Buds are bent, conical, medium-sized. Leaves are medium-sized, elongated-oval, short-pointed, dark green, glossy, with a wedge-shaped base, blade oriented upward, serrated margin. Petioles are of medium length and thickness, internodes are medium. Stipules are sickle-shaped, small.
Flowers are small, plate-shaped, white, in inflorescences of 7-10, petals entire, not fused, sepals long, curved toward the flower stalk, stigma longer than stamens.
Fruits are medium-sized, fairly uniform, short pear-shaped, without ribs. Color at harvest maturity: main green, no covering color. At consumer maturity, main greenish-yellow, covering color — very slight blush on the lower part of the fruit, many subcutaneous spots. Skin is smooth and dull. Peduncle is long, thick, curved. Calyx is small, blunt-conical. Receptacle is small, closed. Dish is small, broad, slightly ribbed. Heart is large, onion-shaped. Chambers are closed, medium-sized. Sub-receptacle tube is short, wide, cup-shaped. Minor rusting observed on the calyx.
Flesh is white, finely-grained, juicy, slightly acidic-sweet taste, tender. Chemical composition of the fruit: total sugars — 8.5%, titratable acids — 0.59%, P-active substances — 40 mg/100g, pectin substances — 0.84%, ascorbic acid — 13.2 mg/100g, arbutin — 2.72%.
Fruits remain firmly attached to the tree and ripen in mid-August, consumption and storage period — up to two weeks. Fruit quality is high, not less than 90%, first class up to 70%.
Fruits are primarily intended for table use.
Variety has low self-fertility, best pollinator is Pамяти Яковлева. Trees begin fruiting on the 4th year after planting in the orchard, annual fruiting. Yield is high. At full fruiting, yield reaches 200 ц/га. Winter hardiness is high.
Fruits and leaves are not affected by scab.
Advantages of the variety: early fruiting, high winter hardiness, high yield, fruit quality, resistance to the most common fungal diseases.
Disadvantages of the variety: under heavy fruiting, some irregularity in fruit size is observed.
