Description Kabardinsky Renet
Early spring variety from the North Caucasus Research Institute of Mountain and Piedmont Horticulture, obtained by hybridization of Renet Bauman with Wagner. Author: P. P. Kostyk. Cultivated in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic.

Tree is weak-growing. The crown is rounded in young age, becoming weeping with hanging thick branches, sparse, with time. The trunk has light-brown, smooth bark. Main branches are light-brown, thick, inclined-vertical, drooping with age. Bears fruit on lenticels and fruiting spurs. According to fruiting characteristics, this variety can be classified as spur-bearing.

Shoots are thick, straight, red with brownish tinge, large white stipules, short internodes. Leaves are large, elongated, pointed, green, smooth, glossy, with coarse venation. Leaf blade is concave, with finely toothed edges. Petiole is thick, hairy, medium length.
Flowers are large, small-cup-shaped, pink, fragrant. Petals are egg-shaped, long. Stigmas are medium length, positioned at the same level as stamens, densely hairy.

Fruits are medium-sized (average weight 140 g), one-sided, flat-round, slightly ribbed, well-shaped. Fruit surface is smooth, glossy. Skin is medium-thick. Main color at harvest is greenish-yellow, covering color is purple throughout the fruit. Subcutaneous dots are gray, small, clearly visible. Calyx does not fall off, semi-open. Receptacle is deep, wide, ribbed. Subcalyx tube is short, medium, vase-shaped. Seed chambers are closed, with large, conical, dark-brown seeds.
Flesh is white, medium density, tender, finely-grained, very juicy, sweet-sour with distinct aroma. Sugar content — 7.7%, titratable acidity — 0.68%, ascorbic acid — 8.9 mg/100g.
Harvesting maturity occurs in mid-September; storage period — until January-February.
Fruits are excellent for fresh consumption.
Begins fruiting at 3-4 years. Yield is very high but irregular. Resistance to scab is high, to powdery mildew — medium.

Advantages of the variety: weak growth of the tree, attractive brightly-colored fruits with excellent taste, high yield and resistance to scab.

Disadvantages of the variety: fruit drop under water deficiency, spreading crown, weak winter hardiness.
