Scythian Gold

The Scythian Gold apple tree is a winter and autumn variety developed in Ukraine in 1984. The tree is distinguished by high cold resistance, frost tolerance, immunity to scab, and resistance to powdery mildew. It grows rapidly in the first three years, forming a compact, round, slightly dense crown, making it suitable for intensive planting. The variety is adaptable to various soils and can be grown throughout Ukraine, showing stable annual flowering and early fruiting. The fruits are large, weighing from 150 to 190 grams, with a conical shape and ribbed top. Their color ranges from green-yellow to golden-yellow with a prominent orange-red blush covering most of the surface. The skin is thin, shiny, and elastic, while the flesh is creamy, firm, juicy, aromatic, and has an excellent sweet-tart flavor. Apples are versatile in use, primarily consumed fresh and used for producing high-quality juices. The variety is highly productive: three-year-old trees yield 11–22 kg of fruit, while 10–12-year-old trees produce 41–64 kg. Harvesting occurs at the end of September to the beginning of October, and the fruit can be stored in a refrigerator for up to four months, allowing consumption until January–February. Due to its good transportability and disease resistance, Scythian Gold is one of the leading varieties on the market, combining high fruit quality with reliable cultivation.
