BLACK MACINTOSH

Black Macintosh is a popular variety of medium-sized apple trees, reaching heights of 5-6 meters. The tree is distinguished by its compact, well-formed crown and stable yield. Fruits ripen at the end of August to early October, with uneven ripening. Apples are large, weighing 150-200 grams, with a round or compressed oval shape and a ribbed surface. The skin is a rich red color, while the flesh is snow-white, juicy, with an original sweet-candy flavor and a slight sourness, making them an excellent choice for both fresh consumption and making jams, juices, and baked goods.

The variety has medium winter hardiness: the tree withstands winter cold well, but at temperatures around -20 °C, branch damage is possible. The apple tree requires timely treatment against major pests, such as codling moths and aphids, as well as prevention of diseases, including scab and powdery mildew. For successful cultivation, it is recommended to choose sunny locations with well-drained soil, although the variety can also grow in partial shade.

Grafting seedlings involves preparing a planting hole with a diameter and depth of about 60 cm, adding compost or manure. The seedling is installed so that the root collar is at ground level, after which the soil is tamped and abundantly watered with 3-4 buckets of water. Tree care includes regular pruning, thinning the fruit set, and adhering to storage conditions for the harvest, which can be kept in a refrigerator for 6-7 months due to the excellent storability and transportability of the fruits.
