VYMEP

Malus 'Vymep' is a late winter variety developed at the V.I. Michurin All-Russian Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Fruit Crops. It is a medium-sized tree with a rounded crown of medium density, fast-growing and stocky, with powerful branches capable of withstanding a heavy crop. The bark on the trunk and main branches is smooth and gray, and branches depart from the trunk at an acute angle. Fruiting begins in the fourth year of the tree's life and occurs regularly, with a mixed type of fruiting – on ringed and spurred shoots.

The fruits of the Vymep variety are large, of rounded-flattened shape, weighing on average about 170-200 grams, with a maximum weight reaching 210-220 grams. Apples have an attractive appearance with numerous medium subcutaneous dots, a medium funnel of a weakly rust type, and a narrow smooth calyx. The flesh is greenish, finely grained, firm, tender, and juicy, with a sour-sweet taste and a pronounced pleasant aroma. The fruits ripen in October and require further ripening during storage; the consumption period lasts from November to January.

The Vymep variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and resistance to scab due to monogenic resistance with the Rvi6 (Vf) gene, and is also resistant to rust, powdery mildew, and spot. The tree can withstand severe frosts down to minus 35-40 degrees Celsius. The fruits are characterized by high quality and storability, containing a significant amount of soluble dry substances, sugars, vitamin C, and other useful components, which makes the variety in demand for long-term storage and winter consumption.
