Description BYLINA
The Bylina apple variety is a winter variety developed at the I.V. Michurin All-Russian Research Institute of Genetics and Breeding of Fruit Crops by crossing the Prima and Murchin Bessemyanka varieties. It is a medium-sized tree with a dense, round crown, growing rapidly and of medium height. The bark on the trunk and main branches is smooth and gray. The fruiting type is mixed, with fruit formation on both ringed and spear-shaped structures. Fruit-bearing begins in the 4th-5th year after planting; the variety is characterized by high and annual yield without signs of periodicity.

Bylina fruits are large, uniform, and correctly shaped, averaging about 160 g in weight, with a maximum weight reaching 190-250 g in a small crop. Apples have a red skin color covering most of the fruit, white or yellowish flesh, fine-grained, medium density, juicy and tender. The taste is sour-sweet with a refreshing aroma, confirmed by high tasting scores from 4.3 to 4.5 points. Fruits have increased ascorbic acid content — up to 23 mg per 100 g.

The Bylina variety is characterized by high winter hardiness and monogenic resistance to scab due to the presence of the Rvi6 (Vf) gene, which provides immunity to five races of this disease. However, the apple tree is susceptible to rust, powdery mildew, and spotting. Cultivation is recommended on fertile, moisture-retentive soils in the Central Region of Russia, as well as in the South and Western Russia. Fruits ripen in the early-winter period and can be stored from October to February, making the variety attractive for long-term consumption.
