Festival

The 'Festival' apple variety belongs to the late winter maturation period and is the result of breeding by the Zonal Institute of Agricultural Science of the North-East. The tree is tall-growing, slow-maturing with a flat-rounded crown of medium density and thin, slightly knobby shoots. This variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness, making it suitable for cultivation in the central regions considering the regional climatic conditions.

The fruits of the 'Festival' apple tree have a weak conical or elongated-rounded shape, smooth and attractive, with a blurred brownish-red blush. The average fruit weight is about 72 grams. The flesh is greenish, dense and juicy, with a tart-sweet taste and sugar content of about 9%. The fruits are of universal purpose, suitable both for fresh consumption and storage.

The yield of the variety is good, apples begin to bear fruit on the fifth-sixth year after planting. The storage period of fruits reaches six months, which allows their use during the winter period. An important advantage of the variety is its resistance to scab of fruits and leaves, which reduces the need for frequent treatments and improves crop quality.
