KOMAROVSKOE

The Komarovskoe apple variety was bred at the M.A. Lisavenko Siberian Research Institute of Horticulture as a result of crossing the Severianka crabapple with the Sibirsky Samorodok variety. The tree is medium-sized with a pyramidal canopy of medium density and a straight angle of departure of the skeleton branches. It fruits mainly on simple and compound ringed shoots, starting from the fifth year after planting. The variety is characterized by annual fruiting and high yield, making it attractive for cultivation in orchards.

The fruits of the Komarovskoe apple tree are small, weighing from 22 to 30 grams, and onion-shaped. The main fruit color is yellow with a blurred dark red blush covering most of the surface. The flesh is yellow, dense, fine-grained, and juicy, with a weak aroma and a good sweet-sour taste, rated at 4 points. Apples are suitable for processing into compotes, ciders, and wines. The storage period of the fruits is up to 40 days.

The variety has medium winter hardiness and good restorative ability. It is resistant to scab of fruits and leaves, as well as various diseases, which increases its reliability under various climatic conditions. The chemical composition of the fruits includes 13.9% sugars, 1.1% titratable acids, 17.6 mg/100 g of vitamin C, 191 mg/100 g of P-active substances, and 0.7% pectin substances on dry mass. Despite some shortcomings, such as small fruit size, the Komarovskoe variety is valued for stable fruiting and high fruit quality.
