SALGIRSKOYE

The 'SALGIRSKOYE' apple variety is an autumn variety developed by the Crimean Experimental Station of Fruit Growing as a result of crossing the 'Winesep' and 'Melba' varieties. The tree is dwarf, with a compact pyramidal and dense crown, and features mixed fruiting. The variety is early-yielding, beginning to bear fruit as early as the second year after planting, which allows for rapid harvest. The apple tree is resistant to spring frosts and fungal diseases such as scab and powdery mildew, which significantly eases care and increases yield reliability.

Fruits of the 'SALGIRSKOYE' variety are large, weighing from 150 to 180 grams, flat-round in shape with wide ribbing. Their coloring consists of a green-yellow background with a pink-red blush. The flesh is white, tender, very juicy, and possesses an excellent sweet-and-sour taste with a pronounced aroma. Commercial maturity occurs in the first decade of September, which allows apples to be used both for fresh consumption and for processing.

The variety is characterized by good storability—the fruits can be stored in a refrigerator for 170 to 190 days while maintaining their taste qualities. Apples of the 'SALGIRSKOYE' variety are recommended for making juices and dried fruits, where they showcase their taste merits. To ensure annual fruiting, proper care and the use of the best pollinators, such as 'Golden Delicious' and 'Aurora', are required. Yield on the MM-106 rootstock can reach up to 60 kg per tree.
