In terms of growing requirements, the tree demands fertile, well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. Proper drainage is critical, as the roots are highly susceptible to rot if subjected to waterlogged conditions, which are common in heavy clay soils.

Climate needs are strictly tropical. The ideal ambient temperature range for optimal physiological performance is between 22°C and 30°C. Protection from strong winds and sudden drops in temperature is essential, especially for younger specimens that have not yet established a strong root system.
