Hard spring wheat of the Taganrog variety is a medium-maturing variety with a vegetative period of 77 to 86 days. This variety is characterized by a semi-dwarf plant type with a height of 85-90 cm and a semi-erect bush form during tillering. The ear is medium-sized, pyramidal, white in color with long white awns positioned at an acute angle to the ear. The grain is elongated, large, vitreous, and white, ensuring high quality of the final product. The main advantage of the Taganrog variety is its high resistance to drought, lodging, and a range of diseases, including leaf spots, powdery mildew, and embryo blackening. The straw of the plant is dense and strong, protecting it from pests such as the wheat maggot. Thanks to these characteristics, the variety consistently forms yields at various levels of soil fertility, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in regions with variable climatic conditions. The Taganrog variety is distinguished by its high grain quality, which is reflected in its high protein content (15.2-17%), significant vitreousness (78.5-97.1%), and high gluten index (95-98). These indicators provide excellent technological properties for the production of pasta and bread. The average yield of the variety reaches 49 centners per hectare, and the weight of 1000 seeds is 43-46 grams. The variety is recommended for cultivation in a number of regions, including the Republic of Tatarstan, the Penza and Samara regions.
