Wheat Sylvester

Why professionals choose "Sylvester"

Winter wheat "Sylvester" from the German breeding giant Deutsche Saatveredelung is the choice of agronomists striving for maximum profitability in high-input farming systems. The main feature of this variety lies in its combination of short stature and phenomenal resistance to lodging. With a plant height of only 40–50 cm, Sylvester directs its energy not into excessive vegetative mass, but into forming a heavy, well-filled ear.

Agronomic Foundation

German breeding traditionally pays great attention to the phytosanitary health of crops, and Sylvester is a leader in this regard. The variety possesses comprehensive immunity to key cereal diseases:

• Complete resistance to eyespot (cercosporella) and powdery mildew.
• High level of protection against rust (yellow and brown).
• Minimal risk of septoria and fusarium head blight.

This makes the variety an ideal solution for regions with humid climates or farms where strict adherence to fungicide application schedules is challenging. With a winter hardiness score of 8, the wheat confidently survives the winter season, recovering quickly when the first spring temperatures arrive.

Who is this variety for?

Sylvester is a robust workhorse for farms practicing intensive technologies. It is highly responsive to fertilizers and requires precise crop management. Thanks to the compact plant structure, the variety is optimally suited for fields with high seeding density, where the risk of lodging for other varieties is critically high. By choosing this variety, you secure a predictable yield with excellent grain quality characteristics, even under conditions of high disease pressure.
