ORENBURGSKAYA 21 is a variety of hard spring wheat (Triticum durum Desf.), characterized by a mid-maturity period with a vegetative period ranging from 82 to 90 days. The variety belongs to the gordeiform group and is recommended for cultivation in the Orenburg region and the Urals region. The plants are erect, with weak to medium-strength straw and a distinct waxy coating on the neck and strong pubescence on the upper node. The ear is cylindrical of medium density, slightly colored, with long light brown awns. The grain is elongated, white, with a short awn; the weight of 1,000 grains varies from 35 to 46 grams. The variety is distinguished by good resistance to lodging and drought, which ensures crop stability even under complex climatic conditions. ORENBURGSKAYA 21 exhibits high heat and drought resistance, as well as moderate susceptibility to brown rust and septoria. During the testing period, no infection with hard bunt was observed, indicating reliable protection of the plant from diseases. The high ecological plasticity of the variety allows it to successfully adapt to various growing conditions. The grain has good pasta quality, making this variety attractive for the production of pasta products. High grain yield is achieved thanks to highly fertile ears and large grain. The average yield in the region is about 17.8-18.7 centners per hectare, while in individual cases, the yield reached 48.8 c/ha. The variety matures simultaneously or slightly later compared to the variety Kharkiv-46, which allows planning of agro-technical measures taking into account the maturity dates.
