Gornouralskaya is a soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety developed at the Krasnoufimskaya Breeding Station. It is a mid-early variety with a vegetative period of about 78-95 days, which is 2-3 days longer compared to the Irgina and Ireney varieties. The plant is of medium height with a semi-erect bush and weakly folded straw, on which a strong waxy coating is observed, especially on the upper node and sheath of the flag leaf. The ear is pyramidal, loose, of medium density, colored, with short awn-like appendages. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 31 to 40 grams.
The variety is characterized by good lodging resistance, which is above average, and also shows drought resistance and root sprouting resistance under unfavorable conditions. The yield of Gornouralskaya in various regions, such as the Perm Region and Kirov Region, reaches an average of 27.4-36.5 c/ha, which exceeds the indicators of standard varieties by 2-3 c/ha. Protein content in the grain is 11-15%, gluten is 22-31%, which ensures good baking qualities at the level of a good filler.
Despite its positive characteristics, the variety is moderately susceptible to diseases such as powdery mildew and septoria. Gornouralskaya is recommended for cultivation in the Volga-Vyatsk region, including the Perm Region, Sverdlovsk Region, and Kirov Region, which makes it a suitable choice for mid-early plantings of soft spring wheat with good yield and grain quality.
