Odesskaya Grain

Winter wheat variety "Odesskaya Grain" was developed by the Selection-Genetic Institute of the National Center for Seed Production and Variety Testing of NAAN Ukraine and registered in 2016. This variety is medium-early maturing and recommended for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polissia, forest-steppe, and steppe. It is characterized by high yield, which in state trials reached 8.3 to 12.9 tons per hectare, achieved through a combination of large, well-structured ears and high productive tillering.

The variety "Odesskaya Grain" has a semi-dwarf type with plant height ranging from 82 to 92 cm and erect plant habit. The ear is spindle-shaped, 10.8–12.4 cm long, with red elongated kernels, and 1000-kernel weight of 38.5–44.0 g. This wheat is a strong variety with high protein content (13.6–14.2%) and gluten content (32–36%), ensuring high-quality flour with strength of 340–380 units.

The variety demonstrates comprehensive resistance to fungal diseases, including brown, stem, yellow rust, powdery mildew, septoria, pyrenophora, and sooty blotch diseases, enabling cultivation without fungicides in years without epiphytic fungal disease outbreaks. Additionally, "Odesskaya Grain" shows cold and winter hardiness, drought and heat tolerance, and increased tolerance to soil acidity and salinity. The vegetation period is 282–287 days, with a recommended seeding rate of 5.0–5.5 million seedlings per hectare.
