Odessa 265

The Odessa 265 winter soft wheat variety is a modern, high-yielding variety developed at the Selection-Genetic Institute of UAAN. It belongs to the semi-intensive and extra-strong group, possessing high genetic yield potential, which can reach 7.6–12.0 t/ha depending on growing conditions. Odessa 265 demonstrates good adaptability to various climatic factors, including drought, heat, and low temperatures, making it especially valuable for cultivation in the steppe and forest-steppe zones of Ukraine.

This variety is characterized by stable grain quality indicators: protein content is 13.8–14.1%, gluten content — 28.8–29.5%, and 1000-grain weight varies within 38–45 g. The grain has high test weight (860–875 g/l), indicating its high quality and broad usability. The vegetation period of the variety is approximately 283–287 days, ensuring timely ripening and harvest.

Odessa 265 exhibits high resistance to major fungal diseases and demonstrates enhanced frost and winter hardiness at levels of 8–9 points. The variety forms large, well-filled ears with productive tillering of 3–4 stems per plant, contributing to high yields even under low agrofond conditions when agronomic requirements are met. Due to its characteristics, the variety is widely used in agriculture for obtaining high-quality grain and stable yields under challenging climatic conditions.
