Soft spring wheat of the 'Novosibirskaya 18' variety is a medium-maturing and medium-stature variety recommended for cultivation in the Northern forest-steppe of the foothills of the Novosibirsk region, the Southern forest-steppe, and the steppish foothills of the Krasnoyarsk region and the Republic of Khakassia. The vegetative period lasts 80-97 days, and the mass of 1000 grains varies from 32 to 45 grams. The variety has good bread-making qualities corresponding to the level of a good filler, which makes it attractive for agricultural production and processing.
The variety is characterized by moderate drought resistance and resistance to powdery bunt, but it is susceptible to brown rust, powdery mildew, solid bunt, and septoria. It is particularly sensitive to root rots, which requires careful attention to plant protection. Average yield in the West Siberian region reaches 28.4 centners per hectare, and in the East Siberian region, about 24.3 centners per hectare.
To increase yield and protect against pests and diseases, modern treatment methods such as Grandsil® Ultra and Strit® are used, which effectively combat the wheat striped flea beetle, helminthosporium root rot, weeds, and leaf septoria. The use of an integrated plant protection system allows increasing yield by 11 centners per hectare, confirming the high adaptability and potential of the 'Novosibirskaya 18' variety in regional conditions.
