NOVOSIBIRSKAYA 2 is a variety of soft winter wheat bred by Siberian breeders for cultivation in the Western Siberia and Eastern Siberia regions, specifically in various zones of the Novosibirsk region. It is a mid-season variety with a vegetation period ranging from 306 to 347 days. The plant is of medium height, featuring an upright bush and a cylindrical white head of medium length without awns. Plant height varies from 87 to 117 cm, ensuring good lodging resistance, surpassing the Novosibirskaya 32 variety.

NOVOSIBIRSKAYA 2 is characterized by high winter hardiness and drought resistance at average or above-average standard levels. The variety possesses medium resistance to diseases such as snow mold and powdery mildew, allowing for successful cultivation in the complex climate conditions of Siberia. The mass of 1000 grains ranges from 35 to 43 grams, while grain natural moisture reaches 766 g/l. The raw gluten content in the grain is 30.2%, ensuring excellent baking qualities at the level of a good filler.

The variety yields an average of 35.1 c/ha in the region, with an increase over the Novosibirskaya 32 standard of 6.3 c/ha. Maximum yield figures were achieved in the Tyumen region and amounted to 76.9 c/ha. Due to the combination of high winter hardiness, lodging resistance, drought resistance, and good baking qualities, NOVOSIBIRSKAYA 2 is a promising choice for agricultural producers focused on stable and quality production of soft winter wheat under Siberian climate conditions.
