The "NOS Merida" wheat variety from the Danish breeding company Nordic Seed A/S is a result of advanced selection, adapted to a wide range of soil and climatic conditions in Ukraine. Registered in 2026, this variety offers high plasticity and yield stability for farmers in the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya regions.

Agrotechnical recommendations

• Sowing dates: Optimal sowing dates correspond to the standard windows for winter crops in each specific zone. In Polissya and the Forest-Steppe, it is recommended to sow during the second or third decade of September. In the Steppe, sowing should occur between late September and the first decade of October to ensure the development of 2–3 productive tillers before winter dormancy.
• Soil requirements: The variety performs best on fertile chernozems and sod-podzolic soils with a neutral pH. It is crucial to avoid compacted areas with poor drainage and waterlogging.
• Seeding rate: The recommended plant density at harvest should be 450–550 productive stems per square meter. Depending on the sowing date and seedbed preparation, the seeding rate ranges from 3.5 to 4.5 million viable seeds per hectare.

Care by growth stages

To realize the genetic potential of "NOS Merida," balanced nutrition is essential. During the tillering phase, nitrogen fertilization is critical to stimulate vegetative mass. During the stem elongation and heading stages, focus on protecting the crop against foliar diseases and pests, given the variety's high growth intensity. In the Steppe region, special attention should be paid to moisture conservation through early moisture sealing and minimizing mechanical soil tillage.
