A stable strong wheat variety with high yield potential and resistance to major diseases.
Description
Breeding Foundation and Origin
"Spivanka Poliska" is the result of long-term research by scientists at the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agriculture of the NAAS of Ukraine." The variety was officially included in the State Register of Plant Varieties suitable for cultivation in Ukraine in 2018. Its development addressed the need for a stable winter wheat capable of performing effectively across the diverse climatic zones of the country: the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya.
Agronomic Profile and Adaptability
This variety belongs to the semi-intensive development type, making it a reliable tool for agronomists. Its mid-season maturity allows the crop to optimize moisture usage during the spring-summer period. The plants reach a height of 85–95 cm and demonstrate high lodging resistance (8–9 points), which is critical for protecting yields during heavy rainfall or high winds.
Grain Quality and Yield Potential
The variety is classified as "strong wheat." When grown under proper management, grain quality indicators remain consistently high: protein content ranges from 13.5% to 14.5%, and gluten content from 28% to 32%. A yield potential of 8.5–9.5 t/ha confirms the effectiveness of the Institute of Agriculture's breeding program.
Resistance to Pathogens
The biological traits of this variety include comprehensive protection against common threats. "Spivanka Poliska" possesses high genetic resistance to powdery mildew, brown rust, and fusarium head blight, which helps reduce pesticide application and optimizes costs for fungicide treatments.
