Memory of Afrodite — a soft spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety with a mid-season to mid-early vegetative period, ranging from 83 to 95 days. The plant is of medium height, with a semi-erect bush and weak straw resistant to lodging. The ear is pyramidal, loose with medium density, white in color with short awn-like appendages and a medium-width shoulder. The mass of 1000 grains varies from 33 to 39 grams. The variety is distinguished by good baking qualities and colored grain. Waxy bloom on the upper node of the straw, ear, and sheath of the flag leaf is strongly expressed.
The Memory of Afrodite variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the West Siberian region, the sub-Taiga of the foothills of the Kemerovo region, Chelyabinsk region, as well as forest-steppe and steppe. It demonstrates high drought resistance exceeding similar varieties and good winter hardiness, withstanding frosts down to -18°C at the tillering node. The variety is suitable for planting on low agronomic backgrounds, such as sunflower and corn, and is characterized by good bushiness. The recommended sowing density is 4.5-5 million plants per hectare.
The yield of the variety in various regions reaches an average of 23-25 c/ha, with a potential up to 90 c/ha under optimal conditions. Protein content in the grain reaches 14%, and gluten up to 30%, ensuring high flour quality. The variety has moderate resistance to stem rust, but is susceptible to powdery bunt, septoria, root rots, hardened bunt, and brown rust. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, Memory of Afrodite is a reliable choice for agricultural production in various climatic conditions.
